Video games – a worthwhile approach?

Another initiative from UK charity Crimestoppers, or more specifically its youth website Shadow CS. On June 30th, they’re launching an Anti-Gun and Knife week.

According to the site:

The anti-gun and knife week on Shadow CS is a great tool to encourage young people to discuss the issue of gun and knife crime anonymously. They will be able to play our new ‘Gun Runner’ game developed with the help of young people in South London, as well as our existing ‘Knife Drop’ game

Hmm. So if a video game can make a positive difference to attitudes and behaviour – as seems to be the hope here – do ultra-violent video games encourage violent attitudes and behaviour?

We’ve just opened a poll on our Bebo page so let’s hear what you think.
